Abstract:
Zhongshan Parks (Sun Yat-sen Parks) own the largest number worldwide among parks of the same name. Their creation and development has sustained from the early 20thcentury till today, crossing the usual historiographic border of modern and contemporary periods. Their geographic distribution has spread from mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, to Southeast Asia and Pacific Rim. Despite the uniqueness in Chinese landscape history, the Zhongshan Parks are now facing problems. Their amount decreases. The features of memorizing Sun Yat-sen are hard to recognize. Overseas Zhongshan Parks, as the images of Chineseness, are usually misunderstood by foreign visitors. The parks are not involved in everyday cultural practice of local community. Their identity is quite confused. What’s the future for Zhongshan Parks?
