Seminars: urban lighting pollution, daylighting design and theoretical research
Zhang Mingyu is majored in Architecture, and works as an Associate Professor at the School of Architecture, Tianjin University. His main research fields are urban lighting pollution, daylighting design and theoretical research. He is currently teaching the courses “Fundamentals of Architecture Design” for first-year undergraduates, as well as “Light and Urban Nightscape Planning”, “Design”, and “Architecture and Technical Design” for postgraduates. His most recent research projects are: “Research on Daylighting Design Theory of School Gymnasiums Based on Multi-objective Optimization Analysis”, and “Research on an Integrated Design Method for Physical Environments in Large Public Buildings”. Other major past projects include: “Evaluation Research on Typical Chromatic Light Trespass around Residential Buildings Caused by LED Advertising Screens” and “Studies on the Threshold of Outdoor Light Trespass Effect on Resident Activities in Residential Buildings”.
From 1997 to 2011, he received a professional Bachelor, as well as Master and Doctor degrees in Architecture from Tianjin University and served as a Lecturer at the same institution from 2005 to 2013, after which he became an Associate Professor. His other current positions are as Vice-director of the Key Laboratory of Architectural Physics and Environmental Technology, and Vice-director of the Institute of Building Science and Technology, both of them located at Tianjin University.
