Dr. Zhang Qinying is an associate professor of landscape architecture and Associate Head of the Department of Landscape Architecture at the School of Architecture, Tianjin University. Her research interests lie in the areas of landscape planting design, urban green space evaluation and public health and wellbeing. More recently, she has been focusing on the relationship between urban green space and children’s outdoor activities,landscape ecology and restoration. For bachelor’s and master’s students, she mainly teaches theory courses on landscape planting, concentrating on the recognition of plant morphology and plant design, etc. Her course for master’s students, “Landscape Ecology and Restoration Ecology ” introduces the theories and analytical methods of the ecological restoration and landscape design. Her research projects include the evaluation and optimization Design of Sound landscape in Greenfield and the relationship between green space and children health development. She has also done projects on plant design in some landscape design practice projects.
Zhang Qinying holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Forest from Shenyang Agricultural University, a PhD in Ornamental Plants and Horticulture from Beijing Forestry University. She was a visiting scholar at the Department of Landscape Architecture, University of Sheffield in the UK from May to October 2009.
