Dr. Xueyang Bu has been teaching urban planning practice courses at the School of Architecture, Tianjin University for nearly twenty years. Besides his teaching responsibilities, he is also a registered urban planner and a local government adviser in Fujian Province. As a planner, his work Urban Design of Tiangangliulin Urban Sub-centre in Tianjin (2010) received the Excellence Award by the Ministry of Construction of the People’s Republic of China, and National Animation Industrial Park in Sino-Singapore (Tianjin) Eco-City (2012) was given the Excellence Award by the Ministry of Education of P.R.C. Dr. Xueyang Bu also investigates ecological and cultural landscape protection in urban and rural areas. From 2013 to 2016, he led a regional research project on the protection of urban traditional villages and towns in Nanping, which was appointed by the local government. In 2016, as a principal investigator, he led the sub-project titled “Eco-safety of Urban and Rural Eco-stones in Minjiang River Delta Region”, under China’s 13th Five-year Plan in the Science and Technology Support Program. As a practitioner, Dr. Bu has completed the Conservation Plan for Historical and Cultural Cities of Wuyishan (one of the Four Major Cultural and Natural World Heritage Sites in China), and at this moment he continues to conduct work on the conservation planning of its historical and cultural districts.
