Dr. YUAN Sinan is an Associate Professor of Architecture at Tianjin University’s School of Architecture. He also serves as an Associate Head of the Department of Architecture. His research interests are concentrated on VR experimental research on spatial cognition, data-based urban analysis, and VR/AR exhibition techniques for architectural heritage. He is currently teaching a design studio on the topic of “data-based urban design”, which focuses on data-based methods for urban analysis and development. He is also working on a ‘frontier research’ topic on architectural theories and design from the perspective of virtual environments.

Dr. Yuan got his professional Bachelor and Master degrees in Architecture as well as a doctoral degree in Engineering from Tianjin University. He studied at TU-Delft as an exchange PhD student from 2009-2010, and visited the cognition research group at UCSB as a visiting scholar in 2018. He is also an experienced architect and urban designer.
