Dr. Jianhua Zhao is an associate professor at the School of Architecture, Tianjin University. His main research field is the performance analysis of building materials, components and whole buildings in different environments by experimental measurement and numerical simulation. His current research involves the following activities:
1. Hygrothermal material property measurement, including heat, air and moisture transport and storage attributes. Physical model for material characterization.
2. Durability and sustainability analysis of the building components concerning the coupled heat and moisture behaviors and energy-saving design.
3. Energy-efficient building design and optimization at different climates. Probabilistic assessment of performance and cost of the newly erected and retrofitted buildings.
Dr. Jianhua Zhao obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Thermal Energy and Power Engineering from Dalian University of Technology, China. Once he received the Doctoral degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Syracuse University, USA in 2012, he began his postdoctoral career at the Faculty of Architecture, Technische Universität Dresden, Germany, where he thereafter worked as a research associate until 2018 before he joined Tianjin University.
