Zhang Long is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Architecture, Tianjin University. Possess the qualifications of a national first-class registered architect and a responsible designer of cultural relics protection projects, he is also a editorial board member of Traditional Chinese Architecture and Gardens and member of Daxing Xinguomen Cultural Construction Advisory Committee.
Professor Zhang is committed to the research of Qing Dynasty Royal Gardens and Their Heritage Conservation. He has presided over 2 Natural Science Foundation projects, 1 sub-project of the National Key R&D Program, 1 Tianjin Applied Basic and Frontier Technology Research Program, and 1 Tianjin Social Science Key Project. More than 30 heritage conservation practice and research projects has been undertaken. Professor Zhang has won a number of national and provincial awards, including 1 second prize of the National Excellent Survey and Design Award, 1 first prize and 1 second prize of the Provincial and Ministerial Excellent Survey and Design Award, and 1 second prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education. As the first (corresponding) author, he has published more than 40 core papers, more than 30 general journal and conference papers, and 3 monographs. In December 2018, as a narrator of the Architecture Archives of Yangshi Lei, he explained the design of ancient Chinese architectural space in the column "National Treasure". His relevant research, teaching and practical achievements have been reported by the People's Daily, Guangming Daily, Science and Technology Daily, China Youth Daily, Xinhua News Agency, Tianjin Daily, Daily News and other media.
