Zhang Chunyan is a Professor of the Department of Landscape Architecture, Vice Dean(Graduate Study and disciplines) of the School of Architecture, Tianjin University. His main research areas are the history and theory of landscape architecture, Sino-Western cultural exchange of landscape architecture, cultural heritage protection and landscape culture. He has participated in and hosted a number of China National Natural Science Foundations and international cooperation projects. He is currently focusing on the establishment of a regional landscape database and landscape maps in conjunction with other disciplines such as cultural geography. In practice, Dr. Zhang finished many projects related to urban renewal, landscape planning and cultural heritage protection. His works has won several national and provincial awards.
Zhang Chunyan got his Ph.D. from EHESS (École des hautes études en sciences sociales de Paris, France) , master's degree from ENSAPLV (École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris La Villette, France), and bachelor's degree in architecture from the School of Architecture of Tianjin University. He has worked in design firms such as AAUPC, DUBOSC & LANDOWSKI, Roland Castro & Sophie Denissof. In 2005-2009, he was a lecturer of the landscape teaching group at ENSAPLV.
