Seminar: The Research Centre of Urban Planning and Design
Yingxia Yun is a Professor of Urban and Rural Planning, and Head of the Department of Urban and Rural Planning at the School of Architecture, Tianjin University. Since graduating from undergraduate education in 1982, she has spent 35 years teaching and researching in the urban and rural planning discipline. She has served as an assistant tutor, lecturer and assistant professor to a professor and department head of the School of Urban and Rural Planning in the Department of Architecture of Tianjin University, and became a master's tutor and doctoral tutor in 2000 and 2008. She has taught many core courses including “Introduction to Urban and Rural Planning”, “Urban Planning and Design” for undergraduate students, as well as many MA courses for urban and rural planning such as “Introduction to Urban Planning System” and “Urban Planning Research Method”. She has also published multiple teaching papers, won the first prize of the Tianjin teaching achievements, and served as the head of the Tianjin teaching reform project.
Over a lengthy period of time she has committed herself to research in the fields of urban land use and spatial planning, eco-city planning and urban disaster prevention. She has hosted national, provincial and ministerial research projects including major projects of the National Social Science Fund and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. She has published numerous articles, has published more than 60 academic papers in professional core journals such as Urban Planning, Urban Planning Journal and Urban Development Research, and has published more than 50 papers in major academic conferences both home and abroad. She has participated in the editing of the Development of Foreign Cities, Controlled Detailed Planning and other undergraduate demonstration textbooks and academic works.
She is currently a member of the Academic Discipline Committee of the State Council in China, the executive director of the China Association of City Planning, the National Steering Committee of Urban and Rural Planning Education in China, the National Assessing Committee of Urban and Rural Planning Education in China, the Tianjin Urban Science Research Council and many other prominent national and provincial academic organizations.
In the practice of urban and rural planning and design engineering, she has presided over numerous urban and rural planning works in various parts of the country, and has won more than ten provincial-level awards including the Ministry of Construction's Excellent Planning and Design Award and the Tianjin Excellent Survey and Design Award.
