He Yongjian is an Associate Professor in the Department of Urban and Rural Planning at the School of Architecture, Tianjin University, where he specializes in regional and overall urban planning. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Economic Geography and Regional Planning from Nanjing University and obtained his Ph. D in Urban Planning from Tianjin University. He teaches and researches on regional and overall urban planning, and hosts and participates in several practice projects. In recent years, he began to pay close attention to research on shrinking cities, including their developmental characteristics, mechanism and planning strategies. His studies are mainly focused in the northeast of China, Tianjin, Gansu and other regions, of which preliminary research results have been published.
