Zhang Rui is an Associate Professor of Architecture and serves as Assistant to Dean at School of Architecture,Tianjin University. Her research interests include Ecological city and Architecture, Green-productive City and Urban Agriculture, Eco-village and Cohousing. She has hosted and participated in many national research projects and published large number of high-level journal articles which focus on the analysis of green-production potential, green-productive space reconstruction design and ecological carrying capacity improvement method at building and city scale, as well as the corresponding spatial model design and evaluation. Her research integrates and reconstructs the green-production strategies such as agriculture, renewable energy and recycling of waste materials with urban space elements, to maximize the production potential of existing cities, reconstruct the supply and demand localization and metabolic cycle, and improve the comprehensive ecological carrying capacity of land and the ability of urban sustainable development.
Zhang Rui hold the professional Bachelor and Master’s Degrees in Architecture and the Doctor of Engineering from Tianjin University. From 2017-2018, She has been a visiting scholar at Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning in University of Michigan. She teaches architecture design studios in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the University. In addition to her academic research, on architecture design practice, Rui is a national class 1 Registered Architect (PRC). With more than ten years of rich practical experience in architecture, Rui has presided over the completion of the overall planning and architectural design of more than ten large public buildings.
