Main Areas of Research
Chao Wang is an Associate Research fellow at the School of Architecture of Tianjin University. His research interests focus on the acoustic characteristics of extra-large spaces and speech communication in complex building environments. Since his research career, he has published 15 journals, including 7 SCI-indexed journals as a first author/corresponding author. He has recently published an article on crowd noise in large waiting halls in JASA, the most traditional and authoritative journal in acoustics, as a corresponding author.
He is also a fellow of the Tianjin Acoustical Society and a member of the Chinese Acoustical Society. He participated in the development of the national standard "Ventilation Muffler" as the main drafter. As an acoustic consultant, he has experience on more than 20 practical projects such as the acoustical design of theaters, conference rooms and auditoriums. More recently his interest has turned to speech intelligibility in the presence of different noise disturbances.
