Faculty and students from the School of Architecture at Tianjin University (TJU) attended the Asian Housing Workshop at Chiang Mai University from August 9 to 18. The workshop was jointly initiated by Japan Women's University, Feng Chia University, Tamkang University, Chiang Mai University, and Tianjin University, with Chiang Mai University's Faculty of Architecture hosting the event. Professors Zhang Xinnan, Associate Professor Zhang Rui, and Associate Professor Xin Shanchao from TJU led a team of six students to participate in this joint design workshop. The workshop agenda included on-site investigation, group design, special lectures, and final presentations.
During the workshop, Professor Zhang Xinnan from TJU delivered a special lecture on the development of housing in China and the achievements of TJU in residential design education. The lecture was highly praised by faculty and students from other participating universities.
In the on-site investigation and group design, TJU faculty and students collaborated with participants from other universities to explore new models of design and construction about residential area in the Mae Kha Canal area of Chiang Mai.
Throughout the design development and presentation stages, TJU students took on key roles within their groups, demonstrating exceptional design skills, teamwork, and English communication abilities. Their contributions were widely recognized and highly praised by faculty and students from all participating universities.
