HU Lian is a faculty member and Vice-director of the Institute of Architectural History and Theory at the School of Architecture, Tianjin University. She is a graduate from the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS, France), majored in urban studies. Her main research fields are: the reuse of architectural heritage; creative cities; and history of Sino-foreign cultural exchanges. She is currently teaching architectural history for freshman. Her seminar course ‘Economy of Cultural Heritage’ introduces theories and analytical methods for heritage evaluation.
