Foundation of "Peiyang University", the predecessor of Tianjin University

1937

Tianjin Institute of Industry and Commerce was renamed as Institute of Industry with two faculties of Architectural Engineering and Civil Engineering

1952

The Department of Architectural Engineering of Private University of Jingu, Department of Architectural Engineering of Northern Jiaotong University and the Department of Civil Engineering at Tianjin University were integrated into the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Tianjin University

1986

With the approval of the degree committee of the State Council, the subject of Architectural Design and Its Theory gets the right of granting doctoral degree, and began to recruit doctoral students in 1988

1992

The undergraduate education of architecture obtained the first batch of National Excellent Teaching Qualification in Architecture, and undergraduate students could be awarded Bachelor of Architecture degree

1989

“ China Ancient Building Survey and Mapping Practice”won the National College Excellent Teaching Achievement Award

1995

Prof. PENG Yigang was elected as academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences

1997

Tianjin University reorganized the school system, and established School of Architecture, Tianjin University

1998

The discipline of Architecture was approved to be offered as a level-1 discipline of China, under which there were 4 level-2 disciplines: Architectural Design and Its Theory, Architectural History and Theory, Urban Planning and Design, and Architectural Science and Technology.

2000

Undergraduate and master education of Urban and Rural Planning program were assessed by the National Board of Urban Planning Accreditation of China

2001

The level-2 discipline of Architectural Design and Its Theory was awarded as the national key discipline

2003

Foundation of Tianjin Key Laboratory of Architectural Physics and Environmental Technology，Prof. WANG Qiheng won the National Higher School Famous Teacher Award

2007

The level-1 Architecture was awarded as the national key discipline and level-2 Architectural Technology was awarded as a national key discipline，“Chinese Ancient Building Survey and Mapping”was rated as National Quality Course
