Ma Hui is a Professor at the School of Architecture, Tianjin University. Her main research field is community response to noise, acoustical quality evaluation and soundscape. Her recent interests are in the study of the relationship between sound and health aspects in municipalities. Her current studies also include the perceptions of young children, their responses as well as any health outcomes due to different sound sources. Her study project on how to improve acoustical comfort and create a restorative soundscape using audio-visual interaction methods is funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. In addition, her research also covers noise polity and criteria, noise economy evaluation, sound quality evaluation in large spaces and urban soundscape protection. She also has experience in practical projects on acoustical design and noise control.
Ma Hui holds a Doctoral Degree from Kumamoto University, Japan. She has cooperation studies and academic exchanges with the following tertiary institutions; Kumamoto University, the University College of London, and Gothenburg University. She is also an assessment specialist of NSFC and Ministry of Education.
