Dr. HE Jie is an associate professor on landscape architecture of School of Architecture, Tianjin University. He also serves as the director of Spatial Humanities and Place Computation Laboratory (SHAPC Lab) and the associate director of Digital Design Institute of the School. His research interests concentrate on spatial analysis and computation on social, humanities and environmental phenomena, including urban, landscape, heritage and behavior, form disciplines of urban planning to historical geography in various topics, including landscape history and archaeology, pedestrians, geodesign, visual landscape, etc. Dr. He is one of the leading scholars in spatial humanities and HGIS (historical GIS) of China and East Asia.
Dr. He got his PhD and Master of Philosophy degrees in Architecture in The Chinese of University of Hong Kong, and Master and Bachelor of Engineering in Tianjin University. He is now working on various research topics on urban and landscape history, heritage digital database, social history, urban pedestrians, urban big data, urban underground spaces, and urban/landscape ecology. He teaches spatial technologies and academic research courses in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the University. Dr. He is also serving in various academic and professional institutions and associations, as well as several academic journals, both international and domestic. He is also an experienced architect and urban planner. His design works and publications has won national and provincial awards in Mainland China and Hong Kong.
