Wang Jianghua is a Professor of Architecture, Associate Head of the Department of Architecture at the School of Architecture, Tianjin University. His main research fields are Urban Renewal, Aging-appropriate renovation of existing residential areas, Small Town Planning and Rural Construction, Modern Chinese Urban and Architectural History. His teaching role sees him teach the design studio. His recent research projects are on the ageing and the elderly communities, and strategies for aging-appropriate renovation of existing residential areas. He has also presided over and participated in more than a dozen national and provincial-level scientific research projects such as the Natural Science Foundation of China, Key R&D Program of Ministry of Science and Technology, S & T Major Project of the Science and Technology Ministry, the Ministry of Education's major social science projects, and Tianjin's major social science projects. He has published 40 academic papers in core journals such as Architectural Journal, The Architect and World Architecture. He was awarded the second prize of the National Excellent Urban and Rural Planning and Design Award by the Ministry of Construction and the first prize of the Shandong Excellent Urban and Rural Planning and Design Award.
Dr Jianghua holds a Master’s degree and a Doctor’s Degree in Architecture, both obtained from Tianjin University. He was a visiting scholar at the University of Sheffield from 2012 to 2013.
